Week of Feb. 15-19, 2016

Good morning families!

Well, it looks like another snowday. The students in grades 4-6 will have an ortho quiz on Friday and should be studying their Liste A.

Grade 6 will also have a wee test that will be a wrap up from Les Animaux du Bayou and grammaire from last semester.

Have a great week!

November 23

Dear Families,

How exciting the new snow is for all of the children! It is getting colder and the larger amounts of snowfall will arrive. We will be learning winter vocabulary soon and I am sure there will be much opportunity to practice!

There are several new students that are apart of our elementary student body. This is wonderful and yet can present some learning discrepancies. If your child is struggling with french, I will invite them to join "french club". This takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon (unless I am on supervision duty). This is a time when we can review material, practice speaking and get to the written work that may need more attention. To date, I have been working with grades 1-3 on Tuesdays and 4-6 on Thursdays.

Please do not hesitate to contact me regarding your child's french experience.

:)

November 8, 2015

Happy Sunday everyone! I trust that each of you were blessed today as God's name was glorified!

Last week our classes worked on Remembrance Day vocabulary and dialogues. The students are such an inspiration to me as they courageously and eagerly speak french with me and their friends in class. I am perpetually amazed at the ease with which the students acquire the language.

We have a split week coming up with Remembrance Day falling on Wednesday. Grades 5 and 6 will be reciting a poem at our Remembrance Day Assembly entitled: "Brave Soldats". Our student council is doing a great job organizing this gathering and I for one, am greatly looking forward to it.

I encourage you to make the effort to find a Memorial ceremony to attend with your kids on the 11th.

As always, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or comments.

October 26-30

Good afternoon students/families,

This week is a short week, therefore we will not be doing an ortho/spelling list. :)

I am supervising lunch duty this week and will not be able to work with my French Club students. French Club will resume next Tuesday. :)

Enjoy the week with your children! They are a blessing to me!

October 17, 2015

Happy Saturday everyone!

It is a beautiful chilly morning. Il fait beau, mais il fait froid! :)

This past week was a short week, but a great opportunity for some review.

I have decided to begin "French Club" on Tuesday and Thursday lunch hours this coming week. I will email parents of specific students that I would like to include in this program. This club will be used to fill in the "pot holes" that are becoming prominent in learning. It is a relaxed and enjoyable time where we are able to focus intently. Some times, I invite a couple of High School students to join us for added support. As I am on lunch supervision every third week, I will not be able to run French club every week. But, two out of every third has been effective in the past.

If you feel that your child should require more support, please email me and we can discuss other options.

October 6 Grades 3,4,5 & 6

Hello everyone and happy October!

There will be a test this coming Friday for grades 3-6. With the exception of the spelling portion (ortho, gr. 4, 5, 6), the students do not study for this in advance. The tests in our units evaluate what has been learned, and not necessarily what can be crammed in at the last minute.

If, after this test, I recognize students who are in need of more time to aquire the language, I will be setting up French Club two noon hours a week. I will let you know if you student would be a good candidate for this time.

Merci! :0)
